Tea Mate - Dried Apple
Sourced from Yantai, Shandong, known as China’s premier apple-growing region, where significant temperature differences between day and night enhance the apples’ sweetness and crispness. Yantai apples are praised as the “nobles of the apple world” due to their rich aroma and juicy texture.
Flavor When Paired with Tea:
Apple + White Tea: The natural sweetness of apple complements the floral and fruity notes of white tea, creating a light and smooth tea reminiscent of a gentle spring breeze passing through an orchard.
Apple + Black Tea: The caramel-like sweetness of black tea pairs beautifully with apple’s crisp and honeyed flavor, producing a comforting, warm brew perfect for autumn days.
Historical Story:
During the Tang Dynasty, apple trees from the Western Regions were introduced to China along the Silk Road, while tea traveled in the opposite direction. Merchants discovered that adding dried apples to tea enhanced its flavor and provided relief during long journeys. Over time, apple-infused tea became a favored drink among traveling traders and eventually made its way into the imperial court as a luxurious infusion.
